WELCOME!
This website was created to share with you the behavioural aspects of the honeybee. It was compiled as accurately as possible and designed by actual entomology students.
Before you begin to look at the social behaviour of the honeybee it would be useful to have some knowledge about the classification of honeybees. There are actually four species of honeybee throughout the world. Apis mellifera, (the most common and widely distributed species) can be found from the tropics to the sub-arctic. The other three species - Apis florea, Apis dorsata, and Apis cerena - are a little more confined, living in South-eastern Asia. Most of the material covered on this website deals with A. mellifera unless otherwise stated.
This website contains all
